During her incarceration, Vanessa experienced the overwhelming challenges faced by mothers in prison—barriers to communication, the emotional toll of separation, and the heartache of reentry without support. She witnessed the profound despair that set in when mothers were faced with the potential loss of their parental rights.
Driven by the urgency of these experiences, Vanessa spent five years crafting a plan with a singular goal: to help mothers reunite with their children after release, ensuring they had the support needed to rebuild their lives and families.
As a program director, Vanessa began implementing her vision, offering hope and tangible support to mothers in similar situations. Today, as the Executive Director of Assets Ascending of GA, Vanessa is advancing her mission, expanding the resources and networks available to ensure that family reunification is not just a possibility, but a reality.
With unwavering dedication, Vanessa has helped over 250 families navigate the complex and often overwhelming process of reunification, embodying the strength, resilience, and compassion that defines our organization.Our team has navigated the challenges of reentry, rebuilt their lives, and are now productive citizens giving back to their communities. Their journeys from incarceration to thriving in society make them powerful beacons of hope and resilience for the families we serve.
